Rabbi Amiel T. Monson

Rabbi Ami was ordained by The Academy for Jewish Religion in May 2021 and in addition he received a Masters in Rabbinical Studies. Rabbi Ami holds an additional three Master’s degrees from Gratz College in Jewish Education (Administrative Track), Jewish Communal Service, and Jewish Studies. He earned his B.A. degree in Comparative Religion, along with a certificate in Jewish Studies, in 1995 from The University of Pittsburgh. Rabbi is a member of the Rabbinical Assembly for Conservative Judaism.

Rabbi Ami served as the Jewish Community Chaplain of Jewish Family Services of Northeastern New York, serving Daughters of Sarah Community for Seniors. In The Capital Region he also served as the Rabbi at Congregation Beth Shalom in Clifton Park, NY.  He has served as the Director of Youth Engagement at Valley Beth Shalom in Encino, CA. For eleven and half years he was the Program Director at Maccabi USA/Sports for Israel. He was the Associate Director and Program Director at Queens College Hillel, and began his career as a 2nd Grade Jewish Studies Assistant Teacher at The Perelman School in Elkins Park, PA.

Rabbi Ami is a born and raised Center City Philadelphian, and the son of two Jewish educators. Rabbi Monson is a fourth generation Rabbi. Rabbi Ami is a huge advocate for Jewish Camping due to his being a Poconos Ramah alum. He has been a Hebrew School teacher for over 25 years. Rabbi Ami has been to Israel at least ten times, including spending six months in high school through Tichon Ramah Yerushalayim, and his junior year abroad in college at the Rothberg School for Overseas Students at The Hebrew University. His passions include working with the aging population, teaching and guiding Jewish youth, sports, music, and meeting new people. Rabbi Ami is blessed to have an amazing wife Manya, and two awesome sons Moshe and Ravi, and a Chocolate Labradoodle, Rachmiel Pesach - (aka Rocky).
