TOPIC ON YOM KIPPUR:
וּתְשׁוּבָה וּתְפִלָּה וּצְדָקָה מַעֲבִירִין אֶת רֹעַ הַגְּזֵרָה
U'teshuvah u'tefillah u'tzedakah ma'avirin et ro'a ha'gezeirah.
"But repentance, and prayer, and charity remove the evil decree". This central concept is the foundation for the focus on repentance (Teshuvah), prayer (Tefillah), and forgiveness (Selichah) during the evening services (Ma'ariv) of this season.

USHERS AND GREETERS NEEDED
Please consider volunteering during High Holidays to greet and usher members and guests. It is a great way to meet new people and reconnect with old friends. Click HERE or contact the office, 215-493-1707 x4 or barbara@bethelyardley.org.
Why Ushers and Greeters are important…
Ushers and greeters play a vital role in any organization or event. Here’s why they’re important:
- Ushers will assist members and guests at the Sanctuary and during Services
- Greeters will assist members and guests in the lobby when they enter the building
1. First Impressions Matter
Greeters are often the first point of contact for guests. Their friendliness, warmth, and professionalism can set a positive tone and make people feel welcome and comfortable.
2. Guidance and Direction
Ushers help people navigate the space. They assist with seating, provide directions to facilities (restrooms, exits, etc.), and answer questions. This reduces confusion and enhances the experience for attendees.
3. Crowd Management
In large events, ushers help manage the flow of people, prevent congestion, and maintain order—especially during entrances or emergencies.
4. Safety and Security
Ushers are often trained to respond in emergencies. They can guide evacuations, report incidents, and help maintain a secure environment.
5. Enhance the Experience
Both greeters and ushers contribute to the overall atmosphere. Their presence and attentiveness help attendees feel valued, respected, and at ease.
6. Support for Organizers
They act as the eyes and ears of the event organizers. They help enforce rules, distribute materials (programs, tickets, etc.), and relay feedback or issues.
7. Inclusivity and Accessibility
Ushers can assist individuals, helping to ensure that everyone—regardless of age, mobility, or background—feels included and accommodated.
Ushers and Greeters are key to creating a smooth, welcoming, and special experience for everyone involved. Please consider volunteering.
Thank you in advance for signing up.
Youth Programming for High Holidays
Important information to ensure a smooth,
fun, and joyful High Holiday experience.
As we come together for Yom Kippur, we invite our youngest members to experience this sacred day in a way that’s meaningful, accessible, and engaging.
Our youth programming offers age-appropriate spaces for learning, reflection, and connection—helping children and teens understand the themes of Teshuvah (return), Tefillah (prayer), and Tzedakah (justice) in creative and inspiring ways.
Youth Programming will begin promptly at 10:15am
Drop Off: 10:00am – 10:15am
Pick Up: 11:50am – 12:00pm
Please note:
- Youth Programming will be held in the School Building. For security purposes, the Sanctuary entrance only will be used to enter and exit the building. Please follow signage.
- Teen "Hang Out" will be in the School Building's Teen Lounge. This space is for Teens only. Ping Pong and Shabbat Friendly games will be available.
- Volunteers needed (1/2 hour increments - Parents and/or grandparents):
The doors to the school building will be locked. We are asking parents to volunteer their time to help manage the door at the School Building. We will need volunteers from 10:00am - 12:00noon (1/2 hour increments).
- Snacks will be provided to children in the school building.
- Kidz Korner - Holiday (Shabbat) friendly toys and books will be available in the back of the room between the Social Hall and Sanctuary as well as in the corner of the lobby.
- Babysitting is available in our School Building.
Wednesday, October 1: 5:30pm - 9:15pm
Thursday, October 2: 10:00am - 1:00pm - Parents/Caregivers/Grandparents are welcome to stay with their child during the Youth Programming. Please do not leave children under 4 without a caregiver.
