Tisha B’Av—the 9th day of the month of Av is a fast day and a day of mourning that commemorates the many tragedies that have befallen the Jewish people, many of which have occurred on the ninth of Av. These include the destruction of the first and second Temples, as well as the expulsion of the Jews from Spain in 1492 and from England in 1290.
