Lifecycle Learning at FJLC

FJLC Mitzvah Day 2024

Our Fierverker Jewish Learning Community offers rich, engaging Jewish educational experiences for children in Kindergarten through 10th grades. The goals of our programs are to bring our students closer to Judaism, provide them with a strong Jewish identity, and kindle a lifetime love of Jewish learning. We accomplish this through engaging experiences that foster a deep sense of Jewish community among the students and their families.

  • Students in Kindergarten, First and Second grades meet Sundays from
    9:00am to 12 noon
  • Students in Third, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth and Seventh grades meet every Sunday from 9:00am to 12 noon and Wednesdays from 4:30pm to 6:30pm

Students in Seventh, Eighth, Ninth, and Twelfth grades meet every Sunday from 10:30am - 12 noon.

About Our Program

We believe a broad Jewish education involves all members of the family. There are many opportunities throughout the year for our members to become involved in formal and informal family educational activities.

RELIGIOUS SCHOOL

The Religious School of the Fierverker Jewish Learning Community was a recipient of LeV, Getting to the Heart of Jewish Education, a grant from Jewish Learning Venture.  LeV is a  project whose goal is to transform Jewish education for elementary school age children and their families. Our process with the LeV project has taught us that one of the best ways to reach our children with rich Jewish experiences is through the exploration of Jewish values. To that end, each month the entire Religious School has the opportunity to explore one Jewish value that is connected to the participants' learning of holidays, mitzvot, Torah and prayer. Participants of Religious School are challenged each month to incorporate that month's value into their daily lives.  Each participant who completes the monthly challenge receives a special mensch award.

In addition to our focus on Jewish values, The Religious School provides participants with rich experiences of Jewish tradition and culture.  Our program is designed to develop fluency in Hebrew reading as well as familiarity, comfort and a general understanding of Jewish liturgy.

HaMOADON

Ha’Moadon, literally meaning “The Clubhouse”, is designed for 8th -12th graders and is held every Sunday from 10:30am - 12:00noon.

Highlights include:

  • Engaging format with opportunities for socialization through exciting classes, monthly breakfast, and experiential programming
