Our Congregation

We are a warm, caring community which encourages fulfillment in Jewish life through spiritual, educational and social activities. We're growing and we heartily welcome new members.

A Hero in Heaven
On Sunday, April 22, 2007 at 10:45 am, the upper grades of our religious school will be commemorating Yom HaZikaron by watching A Hero In Heaven, a documentary film about the life of Michael Levin.
Michael Levin, a graduate of Council Rock, a former Camp Ramah alum, and a former member of Tiferet Israel in Bensalem, grew up in Holland, PA, made aliyah, and served as a soldier/paratrooper in the Israel Defense Forces. Last summer, Michael died in battle in Lebanon. The film is about 45 minutes long and provides a very unique insight into the challenges faced by Israel, what it is like to be a "lone soldier" in the IDF, and what it means to follow one's dreams, even if those dreams lead to the ultimate sacrifice. Following the film, we will have an opportunity to engage in a brief question and answer session with Elisa Levin, Michael's sister, and a teacher in our religious school.
The entire congregation is urged to attend this very special film.
Sisterhood Trip
May 20, 2007 to go see "A Jew Grows in Brooklyn" bus leaving Beth El at 10:30 am. After the performance, we will have a 1/2 hour with Jake Ehrenreich, author and star of the play. The entire day only costs $90.00. Contact Gail Lander via the Beth El Office for more information.
Sisterhood Fashion Show
Our fabulous fashion show will be held on Sunday, April 22 at the Yardley Country Club at 1:00 pm. Please join our committee - we need help with invitations, gift baskets, decorating ideas and models to make our event the best it can be! Sisterhood greatly needs girl models...interested? If you would like to donate any household, personal, beauty and/or Judaica items for our gift baskets, contact Shelley Szwalbenest or bring them to the March 26 meeting.
Weekly Minyans
Please help us maintain our weekday minyanim by attending Sunday at 8am, Monday through Friday at 7:00 AM and Monday through Thursday at 7:30PM. We especially need help making a minyan on Monday mornings. By helping to “make a minyan,” you will perform a mitzvah so that fellow congregants will be able to say kaddish for a loved one.
New Website Design
We have redesigned the Beth El website to make it easier to find current news and important information. We hope you like it! Please contact webmaster@bethelyardley.org if you have comments or suggestions. We'd love to hear from you - and to be guided by you.
