Gratz Hebrew High SchoolThe BUCKS COUNTY CAMPUS of the Jewish Community High School meets at Congregation Beth El on Wednesday evenings from 6:45 - 9:00 PM. For more information contact Rita Appel at Gratz College, 215-635-7300 ext. 5 or visit the website of The Jewish Community High School at Gratz College. Confirmation InformationConfirmation is a modern ritual in which Jewish teens confirm their relationship to the Jewish people and to living a Jewish life. Having become B’nei Mitzvah upon reaching the age of 12 for girls or 13 for boys, the students now freely choose to further their learning and their commitment to Jewish life. During the Confirmation year, students study privately with Rabbi Pivo. Using an informal discussion format and the study of classical and modern Jewish texts, the class will address topics of concern to Jewish teens. The issues the students will explore include: Jewish views on sexuality, anti-Semitism, living as a minority in a majority culture, and more. In honor of their completing the course, the class will lead 1st night erev Shavuot services. In order to be confirmed at Congregation Beth El, a student must complete the equivalent of 3 years of formal religious education post Bar/Bat Mitzvah as well as the Confirmation Class with the Rabbi in that last year of study. The third and last year of study is not grade specific. Those in their 3rd year of formal religious will meet with Rabbi Pivo on a mutually agreed upon day and time, before the Gratz program classes and follow the Gratz schedule. All students need a paper Hebrew Bible. There is no additional tuition charge to your Hebrew High School through Gratz College tuition. Confirmation families will share all costs associated with the Shavuot service. |
